Chinese Consul General in Belfast Li Nan Meets with Mid and East Antrim's New Mayor

On 3 August, Consul General Li Nan met with Mid and East Antrim's New Mayor, Alderman Thomas Gordon, to exchange views on further strengthening cooperation between China and Northern Ireland.

Consul General Li congratulated Alderman Gordon on his new appointment and noted that in recent years, China and Mid and East Antrim have achieved fruitful results in cooperation across a range of areas, including trade and economy, education, and culture and tourism. The Consulate General in Belfast stands ready to continue to play its role to deepen friendly exchanges, consolidate the foundation of the sister-city relationship, and contribute at the local level to the healthy and stable development of China-UK relations. Consul General Li noted that China is now fully implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan, pursuing high-quality development and high-standard opening up. China is ready to share development opportunities and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes with all countries, including the UK. It is hoped that the city will seize the new opportunities arising from Chinese modernization, deepen cooperation with China, expand friendly exchanges, and achieve more practical outcomes.

The Mayor said that the city attaches great importance to developing relations with China and stands ready to strengthen exchanges and promote cooperation, and make positive contributions to bilateral relations.
