Missile Debris Sparks Fires Across Central Israel

(MENAFN) Several fires ignited in cities across central Israel after fragments from missiles launched by Iran landed in the area, according to reports released on Sunday.

Emergency responders were reportedly sent to multiple locations, including the cities of Holon, Rishon Lezion, and Bnei Brak, after debris from the attack caused several fires.

According to reports, Israeli air defense systems successfully intercepted most of the incoming missiles. However, pieces of intercepted projectiles reportedly fell across parts of central Israel.

The national emergency medical organization Magen David Adom said in a statement posted on the social platform X that preliminary information indicated no injuries had been recorded from the missile strike.

Earlier on the same day, the Israeli military announced it had detected additional missile launches originating from Iran, noting that defense systems had been activated to intercept the incoming threats.

The confrontation between the two sides has intensified since Israel and the United States carried out coordinated strikes against targets in Iran on Feb. 28, according to reports. Iranian officials say the attacks have resulted in approximately 1,300 deaths and left more than 10,000 people injured.

In response, Tehran has carried out retaliatory operations involving drones and missiles directed toward Israel as well as countries such as Jordan and Iraq, along with several Gulf states that host American military installations.
